About - Metall is an older stallion from two foundation bloodlines. He has come back into prominence through the success of his most notable son, Uthopia, and is a good choice for mares refinement and athleticism, which he brings in abundance from his jumping-bred damline. He is a powerful, short-coupled stallion, but at almost 40% Thoroughbred he is an elegant mover and produces beautiful, active foals.
Performance - Metall himself got the highest mark of the 'M' year at his licensing. Furthermore, his first crop made him Champion of the Offspring Inspection at the 2001 Indoor Brabant Show (Dutch Breeding Final). In 2001 he won several stallion classes and progressed to the seven-year-old old final at S'Hertogenbosch, where he was vice champion. He later competed successfull at prix st. georges level.
Sire - Ferro is a dressage legend who competed at the highest level, including at the Olympics (team silver, 2000) and World Equestrian Games (sixth individually) under Coby van Balen. The pair were also second in the 1999 World Cup Final. Ferro then went on to become one of dressage's major foundation sires. He produced a dressage dynasty, with his most notable offspring being - among others - Negro, Kennedy, Rousseau and Rhodium. Negro is the sire of World, European and Olympic gold medallist Valegro, while Rousseau has many licensed sons including the young horse sensation, Blue Hors Zack.
Damline - Damsire Ramiro Z is one of the greatest producers of sport horses and stallions worldwide, having sired several international championship horses, including the Olympic Gold medallist Ratina Z. Métall stems from the Dutch dam line 8, also known as the Reina-line, one of the most important dam lines in the Netherlands. From this line stem the stallions Bonaparte Z, Charmeur, Drakdream (stallion performance test winner), Eros, Fürst Frederik, Johnson (licensing champion), Kapriool, Mendel, Sir Primeur, top progenitor Sultan, Udarco and Waldo.
Progeny - Metall has produced several grand prix horses - the most notable is Uthopia. Uthopia was team gold and double individual silver medal-winner at the European Championships 2011, before being part of the gold medal-winning team at the London 2012 Olympics, where he finished fifth individually. Throughout his career he repeatedly recieved 10s for his trot, his elasticity and lightness, and his talent for piaffe and passage, was always outstanding.
Metall has several other licensed sons, such as Special D, Maserati, and UFO. He carries 40% thoroughbred blood, contributing to the lightness often remarked on with his progeny. He has produced noteworthy jumping horses, too - such as Kate Ivy's Rentall, and Ucento - a European Young Rider contender, who won a medal in 2010.
His offspring are known for being uphill, with lots of lift in the forelimbs; very refined; carrying beautiful heads; and the conformation scores tend to be very high.
