Information

About - Bretton Woods is one of the most talked about young stallions in Europe, hailed in Holland as "the next Totilas". He is an expressive, uphill mover with an amazing amount of flexibility. With great character and interest in his work, and movement beyond all expectations, he is an excellent stallion for sport and breeding.

Performance - Bretton Woods won the Princes Dressage Trophy in autumn 2009, won the VSN Trophy in Ermelo in January 2010 (having scored the highest marks in Holland in the qualifying rounds), and went on to be reserve champion in the 2010 Pavo Cup. In the autumn of 2010 he was champion of his performance test, scoring 84.5.  In summer 2011, he achieved 3rd place in the World Championships for Young Horses in Verden. His rider at the time, Emmelie Scholtens, described him as 'the best horse I have ever ridden'. Since then, Bretton Woods has recorded wins internationally with Matthias Rath, scoring over 76% at inter I level.

Sire - Father Johnson (Jazz x Flemmingh) is among the best grand prix horses currently competing. He finished 9th for the Dutch at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and was the Dutch star at the 2015 European Championships; spear-heading the gold-medal-winning team and taking home an individual bronze in the grand prix special. He was also on the Dutch team at the 2014 World Equestrian Games, never scoring below 74%. Johnson was overall champion of the KWPN stallion show in 2005, top ranked in the stallion series 2006-07, and 6th in the World Championships in Verden in 2007.

Damline - Mother Annabel (De Niro x Romancier) is the highest scoring mare in the KWPN index, with 205 points.  In her performance test she scored 9.5 for dressage talent, and her daughter Vienna (Ferro) is an elite performance tested mare.  Her Jazz son Chagall is also a licensed stallion, as is her Totilas son Gaudi.

Progeny - Bretton Woods' foals tend to be large horses, like their sire; he is ideal for adding height to smaller mares, but perhaps not suited to very tall mares. He already has 10 licensed sons, and in 2017 his three-year-old son from a Sandro Hit mare was selected for the final of the Oldenburg Saddle Licensing and Spring Elite Auction. Both sons presented for the Oldenburg November Licensing were licensed, one from a Fürstenball mother and one from a Sternkönig. They were both beautiful, uphill types with long legs, who really covered the ground.
