About - Cardento has everything; a top pedigree, the talent to jump at Olympic level, and the ability to pass his talent on to his offspring and an amazing character. Based on the achievements of his offspring, Cardento was awarded ‘Elite’, received the ‘Breeders Trophy’ five times, and was honored four times as ‘Horse of the Year’ in Sweden.
Performance - Cardento has proven himself at the highest level winning a team silver medal at the both the World Equestrian Games in Jerez and the Olympics in Athens. He was on the Nations Cup-winning teams in Rome, Dramman and Ikast. Cardento placed 6th in the Worldcup Qualifier of Göteborg, placed 4th in the German Classics in Hannover and 6th in the Grand Prix of Stockholm.
Sire - Capitol I is a real rarity in the ranks of Holsteiner stallions – a showjumping sire, whose name begins with ‘C’, who is not related to Cor de la Bryère! Nor for that matter, is he related to that other pillar of Holsteiner breeding, Landgraf, which means he adds variety into any breeding programme founded on those lines. Capitol's grand-dam Vase was champion mare of Holstein, while her full-brother, Roman, topped the German showjumping standings for two years running with Hans-Gunter Winkler. Vase’s daughter, Folia, by Maximus (himself an advanced showjumper), foaled five stallions: Latus I and II (both by Landgraf), and then Capitol. Capitol was by Capitano, who is by Corporal out of Retina. Retina won the Hamburg Derby with Fritz Thiedemann in the saddle. Capitol produced more than 50 grand prix horses, and his offspring include Carthago Z, Cassini I, Carolus II, Indoctro, and A-Cover Girl.
Damline - Cardento's dam B-Estelle also produced the licensed 1.60m grand prix jumping stallions Cartello and Conquest, and her daughter by Contender is the dam of the grand prix stallion Quintender. The damline has produced a huge number of grand prix horses, including Lupus, Chico von Kielsluck, SIEC Carsten, Caruso 394, Quirinus, Quidam's Rubin, Tendenz, Show Time, Click And Cash, and the great Colorit.
Progeny - His breeding successes are world class. H&M Cue Channa and Bardoloni jumped at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and Matrix at the Olympics in London. In 2014. six offspring jumped at the World Equestrian Games in Normandy: Matrix, Celestine, Carisma, Duke of Carnaval, Cafino and Zilverstar VDL.
In 2017, more than 25 of Cardento’s offspring jumped at 1.60m level and there were additional striking results by his younger offspring.
